Abenaki Language Lessons / Radio

Thanks, Joe Bruchac, for sending me this amazing site designed to introduce and teach Abenaki language. What does this have to do with Carlisle, you ask? Everything - because Carlisle's philosophy was to eradicate language and that includes Abenaki language. There were almost 50 Abenaki and Penobscot students enrolled at Carlisle during its history, and those children/young folks would have been punished for speaking their native language.
