"Tied up in bags"

Transcribed from an early Carlisle Indian Industrial School Publication:

One night, soon after retiring, about ten of our small boys, thinking they would have some fun, ripped the seams in their night shirts. The next morning they did not think it was so funny when they had to repair the torn garments, and they did not feel so funny either when the following evening they were carried tied up in bags to their beds. -The Morning Star, IV:8. March 1884, page 3.
