The Fort Marion Prison Project

The Fort Marion Prison Project is in full swing with weekly updates to biographical pages. The pages for the Carlisle students with ties to Ft. Marion prisoners are not publicly linked, but will show up via google searches. In the case of the Cheyenne POW's, many were Sand Creek survivors who had been arrested by the United States for revenge crimes. Some of these men eventually formed the front-guard who helped to set up Pratt's experiment at Carlisle, buying into the program after their respective conversions to Christianity. The progressive cycle of transformation typically included the shift from traditional to assmilated and back again, to traditional after the failure of the assimilation experiment at Carlisle became clear.
